Adding a prefix to mailing list subject lines
There are two different kinds of mailing lists, groups' mailing lists and stand-alone mailing lists. The procedure for adding a prefix to the subject line of email sent to these lists differs slightly.
Groups mailing lists:
- go to the Group Settings page
(http://www.mysite.org/apps/org/workgroup/admin/settings_groups.php) - find the field: Subject Line Prefix
- enter the prefix you want added to the subject line
example: Mysite.org - click [Submit Changes]
The text you add is prepended to the default prefix (the listname) of each group's mailing list. You can also disable the prefix entirely by removing the
'f' from the expert mailing list software list options. In both cases, the changes take
effect when the system checkup processes run. These processes run automatically each night and can be run manually if needed.
Note: There are times when the prefix isn't included, such as when the
email involves a one to one communication that doesn't apply to the
list, a ballot reminder to a single person, and for certain
shared items.
Note: You need to have groups administrator access in order to configure this setting.
Stand-alone mailing lists:
- go to the Manage List Types page
(http://www.mysite.org/kmlm/admin/super/manage_list_types - find the list type of your choice
- click: Edit
- find this field: Add a prefix to the subject line*
- select: Yes, add a prefix to the subject line of each message (f)
- click: Preview>>
- click: Save>>
Note: You need to make this change to each list type that should have the prefix included.
Note: This option adds the list
name as a prefix. There is not an option to define a custom prefix.
Note: You need to have super admin privileges in the applications to configure this setting.
