Working with calendars in Outlook 2007
Subscribing to calendars is the smart way to work with your events because you get real-time information about events right in Outlook itself. Kavi Workspace 5 customers can subscribe to Kavi calendars if they are
using Outlook 2007 (or or other compatible calendar applications such as Apple iCal, Mozilla Firebird, or Google Calendar, for instance.) Note: the ability to subscribe to Kavi calendars is not available for Outlook 2003 or Internet Explorer 6 users.

When you subscribe to a calendar in a group, Outlook will create a new calendar side by side with your existing calendar. If you want to see these events in one view, use the 'overlay' mode by clicking on the triangle next to the name of the internet calendar.
You can also use the calendar chooser on the left hand column to show and hide calendars. Calendars are updated every time you "Send/Receive All"
Individual Events
When you receive an email notice of a new event or a modified event an .ics file accompanies the message. You can double click on this file to add it to your calendar. If the event already exists on your calendar -- typical with modified events -- then a 'duplicate' event will be added to your calendar. You will have to manually delete the old event, which is usually the first one or the one on the left. If you subscribe to an internet calendar for your group, then you can typically ignore the .ics file attached to the email notice.
Recurring Events
Recurring events are very similar to individual events, except that individual occurrences can have customized information per event itself (rotating dial-in numbers, for example.) To see the details of an individual event, choose to view the occurrence rather than the series when prompted by Outlook.
Outlook is unique from most calendar applications in that you can view the details of a series in addition to an individual event in a series. When viewing the recurring event series, you'll see a 'global' description for the event. This is the description and agenda of the first meeting in the series. Since this generally persists throughout the series, it is a useful place to enter in call-in or web conferencing information if it will remain the same each time.
Sometimes a recurring event is modified significantly enough that it becomes a new event. This will happen when any of these Kavi calendar variables change: date, time, location, description, or agenda.
This modification will either split out the one time event or the remainder of the series, depending on whether you chose to modify the one event or all future events (the series.) It will also generate an updated .ics file if the meeting administrator sent an email reminder to the Group from the related Kavi Calendar page.
