Comment Permissions

Who can make comments and who can view them

When using Comment Tracker, Comment Managers can define who can add comments to or view comments for a specific document. The options are:

  • No One: literally no one
  • Approval Voters: those individuals eligible to vote on the approval ballot associated with the document
  • Document Viewers: any member of the organization that can see the document
  • Members: any member of the organization
Note: In order to use this option the document must be shared with the General Membership.
  • General Public: everyone, whether logged into the applications or not
Note: In order to use this option the document must be shared with the General Public.

The default commenting and comment-viewing permissions for documents are set at the folder level. These permissions can also be set on a per-document basis.

Commenting permissions and Approval Ballots

When creating an approval ballot, you have the opportunity to change the permissions regarding who can comment and who can view the comments. Whatever permissions you set here will update the document permissions effective upon creation of the ballot.

If you need to change the commenting permissions after creating the ballot, go to the document details page and modify them there.
