Moving several groups under a parent group

Use this procedure to move groups that already exist underneath another group.

  1. if the parent group does not exist yet, create it:
    1. go to the Add New Group page
      (http://www.mysite.org/apps/org/workgroup/admin/add_workgroup.php)
    2. fill in the appropriate information to configure the group the way you wish; make sure the "Group Parent" field is set to "Top Level"

  2. click the Modify link for the parent group and ensure you have everything set the way you want it
Note: Your subgroups are going to inherit certain rules and restrictions that you set on the parent group (for example, rosters may be limited, who can join may be limited, visibility may be limited, etc.).

  3. for each of the groups you would like to move under the parent group:
    1. go to the Manage Groups page
      (http://www.mysite.org/apps/org/workgroup/admin/workgroups.php)
    2. find the group you wish to move and click: Modify
    3. go to this field: Group Parent
    4. choose the new parent group
Note: You may have to adjust the configuration for each subgroup to correspond with the settings you chose for the parent group (see note above).
    5. save your changes
